The odds on Genoa to finish bottom of the Italian Serie A have drifted out from 13/2 to 18/1 with Bet365, and Daniele De Rossi's side have earned every bit of that move.
Genoa have won their last two Serie A outings, beating Juventus 2-0 and Venezia 1-0 without conceding.
Three of four bookmakers are easing their odds on Genoa to finish bottom of the Italian Serie A, with 22/1 the best price available at Betfair Sportsbook.
Parma are the favourites at a best price of 85/40 with Betfair Sportsbook, with Genoa sixth-shortest.
Goalkeeper Justin Bijlow kept a clean sheet in both wins, and the defence is the foundation of this run.
Start with the result that matters most. On 28 October, Genoa beat Juventus 2-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with Kingsley Ehizibue and Tommaso Baldanzi both scoring before the break. De Rossi set his side up with a back three that stayed compact, made Juventus work for every yard and then punished them in front of goal. When the visitors pushed after the interval, Bijlow stood firm, including denying Teun Koopmeiners. Beating Juventus is exactly the sort of result that makes bookmakers ask whether this really is a team heading for the foot of the log.
Before that, Genoa had already put down a marker against Venezia. Mikael Ellertsson's first-half strike was enough to win at home, and Bijlow again had the final word with a stoppage-time save from Akor Adams. That result matters twice over for Genoa to finish bottom of the Italian Serie A: it banked points and it left a direct rival stuck near the bottom. There have also been under 2.5 goals scored in Genoa's last three Serie A games, which tells you this is a stubborn side that is hard to break down, not one leaking goals. Hence the drift.
Italian Serie A To Finish Bottom odds
Best odds 22/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair Sportsbook, worst 18/1 with Unibet. The gap between the firms is narrow, and every price on the board points the same way: the bookmakers no longer see Genoa as a serious contender for the bottom spot.

Will Genoa finish bottom of the Italian Serie A?
Parma are the favourites at a best price of 85/40 with Betfair Sportsbook, and it is easy to see why: they have struggled for attacking output early in the season, and a side that cannot score tends to slide. Venezia sit close behind after that defeat at Genoa left them near the foot of the table, while Monza and Lecce round out the leading group. Genoa are sixth-shortest at 22/1 with Betfair Sportsbook, and on current evidence that price makes sense. A defence keeping clean sheets is not what a team that finishes last looks like.
Parma – 85/40 with Betfair Sportsbook, the favourites after a goal-shy start.
Venezia – 12/5 with Paddy Power, still near the foot after losing at Genoa.
Monza – 4/1 with Unibet, firmly in the conversation.
Lecce – 8/1 with Unibet, and Genoa's next opponents.

What next for the odds on Genoa to finish bottom of the Italian Serie A?
Next up, Genoa go on the road to fellow bottom-half side Lecce, and another clean sheet at the Stadio Via del Mare would push the price out further while dragging Lecce deeper into the mix. Then AC Milan visit, and that is a sterner test: Milan have scored at least two goals in five of their last six Serie A matches. History does not help either, because Genoa have won none of the previous meetings, with three draws and three Milan wins. Even so, if Bijlow and that back line keep producing what they have shown in recent outings, our view is that this drift has further to run, and the pressure stays on Parma and Venezia.
