Masters Betting Odds: Jason Day still to secure Augusta invite

The latest Masters Betting Odds are still missing a certain former world number one after a near miss for Jason Day at the Farmers Insurance Open in California.

A three-time top five finisher at Augusta who held top spot in the rankings as recently as 2016, Day needs to either win a PGA Tour event between now and The Masters in April or rank inside the world’s top 50 after the final week before the tournament.

The Australian was in a tie for the lead with eventual runner up Will Zalatoris (40/1 for the Masters) after three rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open but could only manage a level par final round of 72.

His failure to go low in round four, combined with similarly frustrating final rounds for Zalatoris (71) and current world number one Jon Rahm (71), opened the door for Luke List to clinch the win with a closing 66 – a round featuring seven birdies and just a single bogey. It means Augusta resident List has himself qualified for the Masters for the first time since 2005.

However, the wait goes on for Day, who did at least climb 46 places in the latest world rankings up to 83rd. List is up to 56th, while Zalatoris – already qualified for the Masters by virtue of his second-place finish at Augusta last year – is up seven places to 29th.

Any changes at the top of the Masters Betting Odds market?

Another strong week for Rahm, who finished in a tie for third at the Farmers alongside Day and one of Niall Lyons’ pre-tournament tips Cameron Tringale – sees him cut from a best price 9/1 into 8/1. Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, remains at 14/1 after throwing away a huge chance to win the Dubai Desert Classic by finding water with his approach to the final hole.

McIlroy’s Ryder Cup teammate Viktor Hovland went on to defeat Richard Bland in a playoff, with the Norwegian world number three now into a best price 28/1 (25 in most places) for the Masters.
