The oddschecker community is backing golf tipster Niall Lyons to continue his hot streak at the WGC Match Play.
With a P&L of +174.66 pts for 2022, further boosted by a top eight finish for Kevin Streelman (100/1) at last week’s Valspar Championship, it’s no surprise punters are jumping on his three WGC Match Play tips – Joaquin Niemann, Brian Harman and Thomas Pieters.
Lyons explained why he likes the chances of Niemann, still available at 33/1 with eight place terms. “His tee to green game has been in excellent shape all year and I think that's what will give him an advantage over the rest.
“Kevin Na is the second member of his group and he has been in poor form for a while now. Henley has been playing decent golf and may prove the biggest threat to him but I'd be surprised if Niemann doesn't make it out of this group.
“Hovland and Zalatoris may fight out the bottom group (likely next opponents for Niemann) but either one of them defeated in the other two matches could throw the group wide open. He could capitalise on this side of the draw and his form suggests he is more than capable of going all the way.”
It's time to fill out those brackets.

However, it is Harman who has attracted the most single bets and the highest total single stakes so far this week, which has seen the 35-year-old cut to a best price 40/1 if you want the eight place terms. That would mean a pay-out on an each-way bet should he make the quarter finals.
Lyons said of Harman: “Brian Harman is another worth noting this week being in a group alongside Webb Simpson. Simpson has only played three events this year and remains woefully out of form.
“Watson, of course, has won this but remains inconsistent for the most part and this could be a straight fight between Harman and Ancer. Ancer of course impressed at the last Presidents Cup going unbeaten before falling to Tiger Woods in the singles. His game is suited to this track but he is yet to figure past the groups.
“In 2018 Harman defeated McIlroy 5&3 on way to winning the group and last year he swept aside Matsuyama when getting to the final eight before succumbing to Matt Kuchar.
“Overall, Harman plays well here and with two top five finishes in his last six starts he remains in very good nick. He could play Morikawa if getting through the group but he won't have it all his own way up against Kokrak and Sergio.”
The only non-Lyons tips to make the top five for total single stakes through oddschecker are Matt Fitzpatrick (35/1) – part of an English trio (together with Fleetwood and Poulter) looking to take down throne world number five Scottie Scheffler in Group 5 – and Jordan Spieth (33/1), top seed (11) in Group 11 alongside Adam Scott, Justin Rose and Keegan Bradley.
