Scottie Scheffler has unexpectedly withdrawn from the 2026 Houston Open.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open for family reasons, with reports indicating he and wife Meredith are expecting their second child.
There is no injury concern, but his late decision means he will now head straight to Augusta National next week, where he is expected to begin his bid for a third Masters title.
Scheffler had been due to return to a Houston event in which he has thrived in recent years, finishing runner-up in three of his last four appearances, but his focus has understandably shifted away from Memorial Park.
Despite a relatively quiet finish at THE PLAYERS last time out, the American still heads into the opening major of the season in strong form, having already won at The American Express this year and continued to rank among the PGA Tour’s standout performers.

Who is favourite to win the Houston Open 2026?
With Scottie Scheffler out of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, Min Woo Lee steps in as the new favourite to lift the trophy.
William Hill has priced him at 11/1 while Paddy Power have priced him at 10/1 in the eight places market.
Lee is no stranger to success at Memorial Park, having won the event in 2025 with a 20-under total, and he enters this week in solid form with top-10 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this season. His Strokes Gained metrics also highlight his all-around game—seventh for Off-the-Tee, 34th for Putting, and 10th overall - making him well-positioned to challenge for back-to-back wins at the Houston Open.
Chris Gotterup (14/1), Jake Knapp (18/1), Brooks Koepka (20/1) and Sam Burns (20/1) follow in the betting market.
