We reveal the most backed horses on Day Three of the Ebor Festival.
It is no wonder punters are backing the superstar stayer to win his eighth cup race in a row and in turn land his second Stayers’ Million in as many years. He always seems to do enough every race and it will be no different today. He may not win by vast distances, but he is a winning machine and his task today should not pose any problems. He has beaten his main rival in the market, Dee Ex Bee, twice in a row. Whilst there is a weight swing today between the two, Stradivarius should have enough to see him off and win with Frankie on board.
Fourteen go to post for this Group 2 race but punters are only interested in one horse. Threat who was runner up in the Coventry at Royal Ascot is fancied to go one better here. He has the best form in the race and it is obvious why punters are finding it hard to look past this two-year-old. He ran into the mightily impressive Arizona and Golden Horne in his last two races and today it does not look like any of his rivals are up to that standard. He should have far too much for them and could go on to be a huge name in racing.
Finally, we have the speedster Battaash. On his day, he is exhilarating but too often he is not at his best. In the last two editions of the Nunthorpe, he has come a disappointing fourth. However, it seems punters are happy to forgive the Charlie Hills trained horse. His main rival, Ten Sovereigns may be best suited to 6f rather than 5f and the shorter the better for Baattash. This has culminated in a lot of support for the five-year-old and if he is at his scintillating best he will be very hard to oppose.
