We reveal the three horses punters are piling their money onto at Cheltenham today.
Thyme Hill – 11/8 – 12:05 Cheltenham (Ballymore Novices' Hurdle)
THYME HILL finished third in the Champion Bumper at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival and got his season off to a flyer when winning the Persian War on his hurdling debut at Chepstow last month. While he has to contend with a 5lb penalty here, plenty think he’ll improve further for that run to score what would be a notable victory at Prestbury Park. Trainer Philip Hobbs also boasts an excellent record at the November Meeting, with 19 winners from 109 runners in the last 10 years.
Ramses De Teillee – 3/1 – 13:50 Cheltenham (Smartcards Handicap Chase)
The biblical rainfall at Cheltenham coupled with the importance of course form here has landed many punters on RAMSES DE TEILLEE. David Pipe’s seven-year-old is a proven stayer whose best performances have all come on soft or heavy ground. Placing in the Welsh National and Grand National Trial last season, he pulled up in the main event at Aintree. However, his winning seasonal reappearance over hurdles at this very track on testing ground last month has caught the eye. He’s been tipped up today by both Andy Holding and our ITV tips.
The Butcher Said – 9/2 – 15:00 Cheltenham (Big Buck’s Handicap Hurdle)
A market mover in this race, THE BUTCHER SAID now tops the list for this one having been priced at 7/1 yesterday. With the official going soft (heavy in places) at the time of writing, the mud lovers are unsurprisingly being well found in today’s markets. Second to the aforementioned Ramses De Teillee in the Novices Hurdle’ here last month, Olly Murphy’s six-year-old might just fit the bill in today’s conditions. The step up to 3m did him no harm, nor the ground. Punters won’t mind siding with a trainer in such fine form either.
