We bring you the latest Derby odds after the weekend's racing
The Derby market has a very different look to it following the events this weekend, with two horses who were previously priced at 12/1 and 66/1 before the weekend, now the front two in the market.
Firstly, it was English King who laid down his Derby credentials at Lingfield on Friday, surging past his rivals with ease to land the trial. His huge price tag of 66/1 earlier in the day was nowhere to be seen once he crossed the line, as bookies cut him into a best price of 5/1 following his effort.
Following the race, punters flocked to back him on oddschecker. Since Friday, he has taken an incredible 51% of bets in the market. You can read more about that move here.
However, Ed Walker’s colt barely had top spot in the market for 24 hours before Kameko launched himself to the head of the market when winning the 2000 Guineas.
The Andrew Balding trained runner is a best price of 4/1 for the Derby, and as short as 3/1 with a number of firms.
Rated a 10/1 shot for the 2000 Guineas, the-three-year-old ran a record time for the race in a special display.
Despite running into a bit of traffic late on, Oisin Murphy and Kameko flew home late on to run down Wichita and land the first Classic of the season.
Now the dust has settled on both performances, in the last 24 hours, it is extremely tight between the pair in terms of market activity. English King just edges it with 21% compared to Kameko’s 20%.
So even though Kameko is just about the favourite, oddschecker users are finding it difficult to split the front two in the betting.
With Pinatubo well beaten in third, and a Derby tilt now looking unlikely, he is as big as 33/1 for the race. He had been the favourite for the race until a few weeks ago, until Military March overtook him in the betting.
Military March himself has been clipped in from 7/1 into 6/1 following a strong effort in fourth. The Derby has always been the main aim for him so to run such a pleasing race this weekend was very positive.
In the last 24 hours, he is only just behind the two main market principles, having received 18% of all bets in the market. Saeed bin Suroor’s three-year-old will relish the Derby trip, so even though he has lost his spot as favourite, he is still attracting plenty of support.
Palace Pier was shortened from 25/1 into 16/1 following an impressive display at Newcastle on Saturday. He has seen some interest on oddschecker, with 9% of bets for the race, but Ascot looks the first date on the agenda for John Gosden’s runner.
Of the others, Mogul continues to be strong in the betting at 9/1. He very much looks Aidan O’Brien’s main Derby hope.
Innisfree (20/1) suffered a setback which meant he missed the 2000 Guineas, but hopefully he can feature in the Derby, but there would have to be question marks around his preparation for the race.
