Special guest Aidan Coleman reflects on a “special day” with Paisley Park in Episode 2 of Racing Weekly, adding he knew it was in there for the 2018 Stayers’ Hurdle winner.
Paisley Park was prominent throughout the second episode of Racing Weekly, a brand-new show fronted by racing broadcaster Rishi Persad and top tipster Sam Turner.
Later in the show, star jockey Coleman was asked by Persad for one thing he would change about racing as a product. You can find his interesting response to that just before the 53-minute mark.
The ever-changing Stayers’ Hurdle picture
Persad started by saying that 10-year-old Paisley Park turned in the performance of the weekend, and believes he is still a little on the generous side at 8/1 for the Stayers’ at Cheltenham.
Turner agreed that it was a heart-warming performance after he had made it more difficult for himself by shying away at the tape and giving up 10-12 lengths over the first, praising Coleman for giving him a “really economical and effective ride”.
However, Turner stopped short of committing himself to any of the early contenders for the Stayers’ in March, joking: “If I found a fiver in the street, I wouldn't have it on this race because it's so hard to evaluate what's happening. It seems to be a different narrative week on week. Even Paisley Park could be 16s after a 100 yards or if he jumps off, he becomes a 4/1 chance.”
Coleman himself referenced the slow start for Paisley Park but added: “I’m no more worried about him doing it in the Stayers' as I was before Saturday's meeting. It's always in my mind that he can do something like that. But there's never been any dip in form in his work at home, so we're always confident that there’s a performance in there.”

A big weekend at Leopardstown
Looking ahead to this weekend, Turner suggested the Spring Juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown could be quite illuminating for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham, with Vauban stepping up preparations to rival Pied Piper - a big fancy for Andy Holding in the main event.
Finally, Turner’s Tip of the week runs at 14:10 on Saturday in Leopardstown in the Irish Arkle. To find out who that is, click here or watch the video embedded above.
