Champion Hurdle Betting: Market suspended after Constitution Hill Kempton gallop

Huge news in the Champion Hurdle betting market for Cheltenham.

Several firms have suspended betting on the Champion Hurdle after a concerning morning runout for huge ante-post favourite Constitution Hill at Kempton.

Nicky Henderson's Constitution Hill had been as short as 1/3 to defend his Champion Hurdle crown after romping to a nine-length success in the feature race on the first day of last year’s Festival.

The unbeaten seven-year-old had accounted for almost 40% bets on the winner market for the race through oddschecker since the start of the year.

If the rumours are true, and Constitution Hill is now set to miss the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, State Man would assume favouritism for the race.

State Man, who has taken just over 20% of the bets through oddschecker, was cut into 5/4 on Sky Bet before many of the bookmakers pulled prices.
