The Brown Advisory, registered as the Broadway, is a Grade 1 Novice Chase run over 3 miles. As such, the race welcomes many future Gold Cup contenders with Bobs Worth and Lord Windermere recently following up in next year’s Gold Cup.
Florida Pearl was a notable winner in 1998 as he skipped his novice hurdling season after winning the Champion Bumper in 1997. A similar route has been taken by Fact to File who was 2nd in last year’s Champion Bumper and is among the race favourites this year.
Both horses were also trained by Willie Mullins who is the leading trainer of the race with five wins. Pat Taaffe is the leading jockey with five wins, the most notable of them being Arkle’s victory in 1963.
