Sa Majeste is edged out as the most popular bet for the Coral Cup.
The Coral Cup is a handicap hurdle race run over the same course and distance as the Gallagher (formerly the Ballymore). It has been sponsored by bookmakers Coral since its inception in 1993.
The race has never been run more than once by a horse, a trend that last year’s winner Langer Dan (8/1 on William Hill) will be hoping to buck this year. Nicky Henderson is the most successful trainer in the race with his four wins all coming since 2010.

Sa Majeste was a winner over hurdles in France nearly two years ago. Despite rather proving a disappointment when only sixth on return as a favourite at the 2023 Punchestown Festival, he duly obliged at Limerick in December.
That form has been well received, with the second, Noble Yeats, subsequently winning the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham.
An opening mark of 140 doesn’t seem excessive, and he could run a big race with improvement forthcoming for owner JP McManus, who does well in handicaps at the Cheltenham Festival.
Sa Majeste is the second most backed for the Coral Cup through oddschecker since Monday, with Built By Ballymore for Martin Brassil taking more than 20% of the bets.
