Skelton is being backed to get his fifth win of the Festival.
The County Hurdle is a handicap hurdle run over the same distance of 2 miles 1 furlong as the preceding Triumph. Having been run since 1920, the race was titled as the Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle between 1995 and 2016 after the Irish racehorse trainer Vincent O’Brien who retired from the sport in 1994.
Willie Mullins is the leading trainer in the race with six wins. Him and Dan Skelton have accounted for eight of the past nine winners.

King Of Kingsfield has yet to finish out of the frame in five starts over hurdles and finished third in a Grade 1 race last time out. A strongly-run race should suit him, and he’s been tipped by a lot of people to run a big race in this contest. Gordon Elliott’s six-year-old brings a touch of class to the race and could be thrown in off a mark of 140.
However, the Skeltons are being backed to take home their fifth win at the Festival with L’Eau Du Sud (more than 15% of the bets). He finished second in the Betfair Hurdle and was put up six pounds as a result of that, but still might be well handicapped here.
His form in that race has been bolstered after Go Dante, who he finished ahead of, won the Imperial Cup. Skelton won this race last year and will know what it takes to do it again.
