Last year's winner is back for more in 2024.
In the 2023 Grand National at Aintree, 8/1 favourite Corach Rambler (8/1 again to defend his title) claimed the 176th running of the Randox Grand National.
Trained by Lucinda Russell and ridden by Derek Fox, the two-time Cheltenham Festival winner provided his Scotland-based team with a second win in the world’s greatest race after his trainer and jockey won the 2017 edition of the race with One For Arthur.

How did the race go?
Ridden closer to the pace than useful, Corach Rambler was kept out of trouble from the early carnage and then throughout the contest.
When the race started to take shape during the second circuit, he started to make his move. Having jumped into the lead over the last fence, he quickened up smartly with considerable ease to put distance between himself and the rest of the pack.
Although Vanillier (12/1 this year on bet365) built up a head of steam late on, having emerged from a position further back than ideal, the winner had already flown.
Gaillard Du Mesnil was back in third and 2022 winner Noble Yeats (28/1 on Ladbrokes) running valiantly in defeat to finish in fourth place under his big weight.
Given Corach Rambler was the pre-race favourite for the 2023 Grand National, Lucinda Russell’s charge did extremely well to validate the market support he initially received.
The controversial start
The buildup to the race and start had its controversy, though, as it was delayed by around 15 minutes after an invasion of protestors from Animal Rising got on to the course and caused complete chaos.
This ultimately led to a total of nine arrests following the disruption and, as a consequence, upset a lot of the horses, which saw a number of early fallers.
Key changes to this year's renewal
Given what occurred last year, plenty of safety-related changes are in place, such as the reduction in field size, the start time of the race, and the moving of the first fence.
However, we should be in for another great race.
