The big names are back, the storylines are building, and the road to Cheltenham 2025 is officially underway. Check out what’s in store this week!

Ginger Joe's Notable Entries

Air Of Entitlement – Henry DeBromhead

Age / Pedigree: 6yo, Westerner x Carrigeen Karaka
Form: 1/7117-
Race: Fairyhouse, Tuesday 4th November – Open Hurdle 2m4f+

2025 Mares’ Novice Hurdle winner Air Of Entitlement looks set to make her seasonal reappearance on Tuesday at Fairyhouse. She could face my top Irish horse to follow, Bacchanalian, which would make this a fascinating early season clash if both take their place in the lineup.

Air Of Entitlement was hugely impressive on her hurdles debut last season before going straight to Cheltenham, where she captured the Mares’ Novice Hurdle under a superb ride from Rachael Blackmore. That victory came on just her second start over hurdles, and the way she stayed on strongly up the hill marked her out as a mare of serious potential.

She was below her best next time at Punchestown, but that meeting often comes too soon after Cheltenham, and her inexperience, along with the quick turnaround, likely played a part in that effort. It would be easy to assume she’ll make a winning return, but Bacchanalian is no pushover, and if both line up, this promises to be a proper contest. Definitely one worth tuning in for.

No Drama This End – Paul Nicholls

Age / Pedigree: 5yo, Walk In The Park x La Segnora
Form: 1-19
Race: Chepstow, Wednesday 5th November – Maiden Hurdles 2m & 2m3f

I am a big fan of the Walk In The Park progeny, and No Drama This End is another from the stallion that could turn into a proper nice horse in the future. I actually don’t think we will see the best of him until he goes novice chasing next season, but he should still do plenty of winning over hurdles this season.

He ran really well in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, finishing only 9 lengths back of the winner, Bambino Fever. Notably, this was achieved with just one previous bumper run. Paul Nicholls tends to do very little work with his bumper horses to ensure they remain open to improvement when they go novice hurdling.

He has two entries at Chepstow in maiden hurdles on Wednesday—one over 2m and the other over 2m3f—but either will suit him at this stage. The fact that he finished where he did in the Champion Bumper last season suggests there could be a lot more improvement to come. No Drama This End is a deeply intriguing runner this week and a good gauge of his potential.

Il Etait Temps – Willie Mullins

Age / Pedigree: 7yo, Jukebox Jury x Une Des Sources
Form: 12131/11-
Race: Clonmel, Thursday 6th November – Clonmel Oil (Grade 2) Chase 2m5f

We get to see Il Etait Temps return to action this week in the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase, which looks an ideal starting point for his 2025/26 campaign. He hasn’t always been the most straightforward horse, but he’s certainly improved with age and maturity.

He heads into this season on the back of a brilliant performance at Sandown, where he hammered Jonbon in the Celebration Chase, a deeply impressive win considering he’d been off the track for nearly a year. Before that injury layoff, he also notched a victory over Gaelic Warrior, who won the Arkle in the same season.

There could be even more improvement to come from Il Etait Temps, and Willie Mullins has confirmed the Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March is the main target. He will be giving weight to a few rivals on his seasonal debut, but that shouldn’t pose much of a problem. This looks a perfect reintroduction, and it will be fascinating to see just how high he can climb this season—a seriously talented individual.

Mojito Des Mottes – Ben Pauling

Age / Pedigree: 3yo, Clovis Du Berlais x Magie Des Landes
Form: 1-
Race: Ludlow, Thursday 6th November – Juvenile Hurdle 2m

It could be well worth tuning into the Juvenile Hurdle at Ludlow, where Ben Pauling looks set to unleash his well-regarded juvenile, Mojito Des Mottes. The gelding was purchased by JP McManus after winning a four-runner contest at Moulins, pulling more than ten lengths clear of the third.

The performance showcased speed, determination, and a physique that suggests there’s plenty more to come as he strengthens up. Another interesting angle is the connection between McManus and Pauling. Last season, McManus sent Meetmebythesea to Ben, and that partnership worked out extremely well. It’s fair to think that success encouraged him to also send Mojito Des Mottes to the same yard—a real vote of confidence in the trainer.

Act Of Authority – Olly Murphy

Age / Pedigree: 7yo g, Authorized x Leah Claire
Form: 14327-
Race: Newbury, Thursday 6th November – Pertemps Qualifier 3m

I’m very intrigued by the entry of Act Of Authority in the Pertemps Qualifier on Thursday. As noted in my Oddschecker “Horses to Follow” piece, this gelding could play a major role in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham in March.

He ran an excellent race to finish second to Wodhooh in the Martin Pipe at last season’s Festival. Given his current mark, it wouldn’t make much sense to send him novice chasing as a seven-year-old. Targeting a valuable handicap campaign, and ultimately the Final, a qualifier always looked the logical route.

To book his spot at Cheltenham, he’ll need to finish inside the top four in a qualifier, and there’s a real advantage in doing that early in the season. Once qualified, connections can then campaign him with care to preserve a workable mark ahead of March. Step one, though, is to qualify, and that journey starts on Thursday.
