A London resident has placed £350,000 on the Conservative party winning the most seats at ridiculously short odds.
A high-roller based in one of London’s wealthy suburban outer-city towns has been extremely bullish about the Conservatives’ chances of winning the most seats at the upcoming general election. Since the start of May, the unnamed punter has backed Theresa May’s party on various different days with single stakes ranging up to six-figures.
The first time Oddschecker witnessed the gambler in action was on the first weekend of the month, over the Saturday and Sunday, when they piled over £240,000 into the Tories winning the most seats in the snap election at 1/20. This was just the first of many large punts; the Oddschecker user waited until Labour released their manifesto before putting their hand back into their pocket. Last night, another £110,000 was placed on the Conservative party winning the most seats.
Unfortunately for the big staker, the odds had shortened since their last wager, this time round they could only get on at 1/33. Altogether, the punter has put down £350,000 and if the Conservative party do win the most seats, as expected, they’ll collect £365,333 from the bookmakers.

The ballsy punter obviously believes the election will be an easy win for May’s party, despite the person coming from a largely Labour dominated area. As bookies will only accept a certain outlay, the bets have been spread via different bookmakers, using Oddschecker to find the odds of all the top bookies. Even though it’s a huge outlay for just over £15,000 profit, it’s a good return for just a month’s work. We don’t expect we’ve seen the last of this high-roller as we’ve seen an increase in support for Corbyn over the last week or so. That could cause the Conservatives’ odds to drift just a little, attracting even more support.
