The latest in a long list of 'no-deal panic' Brexit specials.
As Brexit rolls on and uncertainty continues to grow, Paddy Power keep churning out their special markets.
We’ve seen prices crash for no Irish trained horses to appear at the 2019 Grand National (8/1), fuel to be the first commodity to be officially rationed with food items close behind (12/1).
Now in possibly the most shocking thought of the lot, Britain to run out of contraceptives in 2019 has been priced up at 3/1. That’s an implied probability of 25% that the country pulling out of the EU might not be the only messy withdrawal for Brits.
With an estimated 70% of all women in England and Wales having used the pill at some stage in their lives, the contraceptive pill is the most widely used form of contraception in the UK. Meanwhile, condom production now mostly takes place overseas as well, so issues surrounding imports could be a concern.
With running out of contraceptives now priced as more likely to happen than the UK government rationing fuel (4/1), Paddy Power think it’ll be queues at the pharmacy rather than the petrol station.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The future is still very much undecided for Britain’s relationships with the rest of the world and there’s no end to the no-deal scaremongering.
“Now, bookmakers are predicting potential stiff restrictions on one of the most basic of health needs, with a 25% implied chance that Britain has a contraceptive shortage in 2019.”
