Penny Mordaunt has shortened from 2/1 to as short as 4/6 after a snap YouGov poll showed she is the most backed among Conservative Party members (27% of votes).
The 49-year-old Mordaunt (7/8 best price) has dominated the market since the results of the poll broke, taking 44% of total bets on oddschecker in this time frame.
Former Chancellor Rishi Sunak was favourite on Wednesday morning until the results of the survey saw him drift out from 7/4 to 10/3 in the leadership race.

Despite losing the survey, Sunak picked up the most votes in round one of the voting (88) made by Conservative MPs.
Favourite Mordaunt picked up 67 votes, while there were 50 votes for third favourite Liz Truss, who drifted out to 4/1 yesterday following news of the YouGov survey.
Another vote will take place today, where Conservatives MPs will vote who they are backing and the contender with the fewest votes will be eliminated from contention.

Suella Braverman has the longest odds remaining, with one bookmaker paying 300/1 for her to win the leadership race, as she picked up the least votes of the six remaining yesterday.
Despite picking up only three less votes, fifth favourite Tom Tugendhat can be backed at more than triple the price (69/1 best price) of fourth placed Kemi Badenoch (20/1).
Tonight’s ballot will see another candidate go and potentially see some more movement in price as candidates continue their leadership campaigns.
