Next Conservative Leader Odds: Truss 9/10 favourite as Mordaunt eliminated in final round of voting

Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss have been confirmed as the two candidates running to be next party leader following today’s final round of voting.

Former Chancellor Sunak was yesterday’s odds-on favourite in places, but today has drifted out to 6/4 best price, as Truss moves into favourite across oddschecker’s bookmakers.

Foreign Secretary Truss had odds of 5/2 available for her yesterday and has since shortened to as low as 8/15 (best price 9/10).

Sunak has been the most backed in this market on oddschecker since his resignation on Monday 4th July taking 24% of total bets in this time frame.

Truss on the other hand, has taken 15% of bets in this time frame, with her long being the third favourite in this market.

One oddschecker user will be hoping for a Truss victory, as they have potentially £1000 in profit after backing her at 10/1 with a £100 stake.

The two remaining candidates will take part in a televised head-to-head debate on Monday 25th July on BBC, and if the previous debates were anything to go by, these will surely have an impact on their odds.

The winner, and next Conservative leader will be announced on Monday 5th September after 160,00 Tory party members cast their votes.
