2024 Presidential Election Odds: Trump still shortening despite Colorado ruling

Donald Trump’s position as favourite in the 2024 presidential election odds market has strengthened despite the Colorado ruling.

Oddsmakers have continued to place their faith in Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election odds market despite last month’s ruling in Colorado.

Colorado's top court ruled that Trump should be removed from the state ballot under 14th amendment to US constitution for inciting an insurrection.

Trump was in court on Tuesday to claim he should be immune from prosecution on charges that he conspired to overturn the 2020 United States election. His appeal of the Colorado ruling, meanwhile, will be heard by the US Supreme Court on 8th February.

Yet, since the December 19th Colorado ruling, Trump’s odds have been trimmed into 5/4 with some bookmakers for him to win the 2024 US election (best price 7/5 on 888sport).

With Joe Biden’s odds currently at best price 9/4, this is the largest gap between the top two in the betting since late 2023.

Trump has dominated this market on oddschecker since December 19th, securing 57.5% of all bets placed in the time since, compared to just 14.8% for Joe Biden.

Interestingly, the fourth most popular bet (behind Nikki Haley in 3rd) in the same time frame is Michelle Obama, who’s amassed 4.5% of total wagers.

Speculation has been building about Obama making a run for the presidency in 2024 and in recent days her odds have been cut to as short as 14/1 (best price 24/1).

Michelle Obama 24/1 12/1

Leon Blackman from oddschecker said: “Despite all the drama surrounding Trump and whether he will be able to stand for election in 2024, the oddsmakers are unwavering in making him their betting favourite to win.

Incredibly, since the Colorado ruling on December 19th, the money has continued to come in for a Trump win. 57.5% of all bets with oddschecker have been placed on Trump in that time frame, compared to just 44.3% in the three months prior.”

Fifth favourite Obama now trails only Joe Biden (1/3) and Gavin Newsom (9/1 on Betfred) in the race to be the Democratic Candidate in 2024. The former First Lady is 12/1 on Sky Bet.
