Labour Election Odds: Labour loses support in several constituencies post-debate

Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak addressed the public for the first time in the general election debate last night.

The leaders of the Labour party and Conservatives took to the stage last night to debate for the first time as they discussed topics such as the NHS, taxes and VAT on school fees.

Both leaders basked in moments of acclaim, each being applauded at different times.

Keir Starmer, though starting slowly, was commended for his points on tackling the migration ‘gangs’, making oil and gas companies pay up and the new VAT on school fees.

While Sunak was surprisingly shown support when discussing junior doctors strikes.

While it's unclear if there was a definitive winner in the debate, it did highlight Sunak's sharper and quicker demeanor compared to his opponent. It also suggested that Labour's policies might not be fully prepared for immediate implementation.

Though hardly damaging to Labour's chances of winning a majority in the upcoming election (their odds remained at 1/12), it did have an effect on their odds to win a number of constituencies.

While this may be considered a small win for the Conservatives, there is still a huge void between them and the Labour party who look set to win the election by the biggest majority in a decade based on the odds (see below)

Interestingly, the odds for Tiverton and Minehead, despite drifting to 18/1 on bet365 for Labour to win, remain at 11/8 on William Hill.
