The Mother of Dragons was already favourite with the bookies to become the ruler of Westeros, but last night the Princess of House Targaryen’s odds shortened even further.
There were plenty of ups and down for Daenerys in episode two of the current series, her carefully crafted plans to swoop on Cersei Lannister were foiled following Euron Greyjoy’s attack on his younger cousins, Theon Greyjoy and Yara Greyjoy. However, she was boosted by a visit from the Red Princess, who on arrival advised her to summon Jon Snow to Dragonstone. The King of the North accepted the invitation and was pictured meeting the Queen in the latest trailer.
An alliance between The Mother of Dragons and The King of the North has sparked enthusiasm in the betting world. Bookies cut Daenerys odds of ruling Westeros yesterday from 5/2 to 2/1, which implies she has a 33.3% chance of doing so. 22% of bets placed via Oddschecker in the market since yesterday morning have been on the Dragon Queen.
It was a mixed night for the Greyjoy family, Yara Greyjoy was captured by her older cousin, which pushed her odds out to 125/1 from 80/1 to rule Westeros. Her brother Theon Greyjoy chose to jump overboard rather than fight for his sister and was last pictured swimming in the ocean, possibly explaining his new odds of 125/1 to become ruler.
Euron Greyjoy was on a mission to capture a present for Cersei Lannister, which will help secure her hand in marriage, that gift appears to be his younger cousin. The new trailer shows him returning to Kings Landing to a huge reception, his odds to rule Westeros have shortened from 33/1 to 10/1 in the last two weeks.
