The SPOTY 2024 shortlist has been announced, who is favourite to win?
We are just one week away from finding out who has won the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award on Tuesday, December 17.
After the offical nominees for the award were announced today, footballer Jude Bellingham, runner Keely Hodgkinson, darts player Luke Littler, cricketer Joe Root, Para-cyclist Sarah Storey and triathlete Alex Yee will be the final six that the public can vote for.
The race is shaping up to be a battle between two British athletes who have both made massive contributions to sport throughout the year.
Keely Hodgkinson, the Paris Olympics 800m gold medalist, leads the way as the short priced favourite.
Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler, already a major champion at just 17, has taken the sport by storm, becoming a viral star and helped it gain wider recognition.
He is the second favourite and appears to be the only one backed to compete with Hodgkinson for the award.

Who is the favourite to win SPOTY?
Keely Hodgkinson is the favourite to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024 at a best price of 4/11 with Boylesport.
After what she has achieved in athletics this year her nomination was never in doubt.
She clinched gold in the 800m at the Paris Olympics, outclassing her opponents when crossing the line in one minute 56.72 seconds to beat Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma (1:57.15) who won silver and world champion Moraa (1:57.42) who had to settle for third. This victory added to her Olympic silver from Tokyo when she was just 19.
Hodgkinson also broke the British 800m record earlier this year with a time of one minute 54.61 seconds, making her the sixth fastest woman in history over the distance.
As the only British athlete to win gold in track and field at Paris, her achievements have no doubt captured the nation's admiration.
Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler follows at 7/2 with PricedUp, having shocked sports fans with his meteoric rise to 4th in the Darts World Rankings.
The 17-year-old recently secured his first major ranking title with a dominant 16-3 victory in the Grand Slam final whilst winning his 10th PDC title in his first professional season, joining legends like Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen in achieving this milestone.
Several other notable contenders are also in the running for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024.
Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee is a long shot at 66/1, while Paralympic cycling legend Sarah Storey, with her 19 gold medals, stands at 100/1. Cricketing icon Joe Root, fresh off a fantastic international year, shares 100/1 odds.
Football sensation Jude Bellingham, despite his remarkable year for Real Madrid and England, is considered an outsider at 150/1.
