Oddschecker Reports Busiest Royal Rumble for Betting Activity in Eight Years

Oddschecker Reports Busiest Royal Rumble for Betting Activity in Eight Years

One of the world’s biggest betting aggregators, Oddschecker, have reported that last weekend’s Royal Rumble was their busiest in eight years.

Royal Rumble 2025, won by Jey Uso, generated at least double the number of bets on Oddschecker compared to its previous six editions.

Since 2013, when Oddschecker started collecting betting data, only the 2017 Royal Rumble —won by Randy Orton—saw more betting activity on their platform.

In 2025, Oddschecker saw more bets for the Royal Rumble than the Oscars, The Masters (Golf), and the Australian Open (Tennis).

This year’s event was also a huge success for bookmakers, with Jey Uso priced at 20/1 before pulling off the surprise victory.

With that win, Uso became the first wrestler outside the top three most popular bets on Oddschecker to claim the Royal Rumble title.

One lucky bettor turned a £25 bet into £525, cashing in on Jey Uso’s shock victory at 20/1.

Royal Rumble 2025 Most Backed

The chart below shows the top three most wagered wrestlers on Oddschecker for each of the past ten editions.

John Cena and CM Punk were the two favourite picks amongst Oddschecker WWE bettors for this year’s edition, picking up 28% and 27% of bets respectively.

CM Punk was the big story on the week of Royal Rumble, overtaking John Cena as the betting favourite and picking up 32% of bets across Oddschecker.

Historically, six of the last nine Royal Rumble winners had been the most-backed wrestler on Oddschecker, with two others ranking as the second-most popular bet. The only exception was Edge in 2017, who won despite not being among the top two favourites.

Royal Rumble Betting vs. Other WWE Events in 2024

Comparing Royal Rumble betting volume to other major WWE events in 2024:

  • Four times more bets were placed on Royal Rumble than WrestleMania.
  • Six times more bets were placed on Royal Rumble than Money in the Bank.

With WWE’s blockbuster deal with Netflix set to reshape the company’s future, it will be fascinating to see if WWE betting continues to grow throughout 2025.

Quote from Oddschecker’s Leon Blackman: "This year’s Royal Rumble has officially gone down as the busiest WWE betting event on our platform in the past eight years. The surge in bets for the event highlights just how much interest there was in the 2025 edition, with CM Punk and John Cena dominating the pre-match markets."

"One of the biggest surprises, however, was Jey Uso’s victory at 20/1 odds—making him the first Royal Rumble winner outside of the three most-backed wrestlers on Oddschecker. This resulted in a significant payout for the few bettors who backed the underdog, including one lucky punter who turned £25 into £525 with their wager on Uso."

"The Royal Rumble’s record-breaking betting figures suggest that WWE betting is gaining serious momentum. With WrestleMania around the corner and WWE’s new Netflix deal set to shake up the landscape, it will be fascinating to see if this trend continues throughout 2025."
