Best price 5/2 with Boylesports.
Josh Rock v Gian van Veen - Over 8.5 Legs @ 2/5 (Boylesports)
Josh Rock and Gian van Veen will get the action underway in Birmingham on Thursday night. Rock remains rooted to the foot of the table following last week’s defeat to Luke Humphries, while van Veen is still in playoff contention despite losing to Stephen Bunting last Thursday.
With neither player firing on all cylinders, it’s difficult to see either running away with this one. With that in mind, over 8.5 legs looks a solid selection, especially as this bet landed when the pair last met in the Premier League at the beginning of last month.
Gerwyn Price v Michael van Gerwen - Michael van Gerwen +2.5 Handicap @ 2/5 (Boylesports)
Gerwyn Price looked nailed on for a top-four finish just a few weeks ago, but a slump in form has now left him with work to do. The Iceman has lost five of his last six Premier League matches and suddenly finds himself nervously glancing over his shoulder at the chasing pack.
One of the players applying pressure is Michael van Gerwen, whose recent displays have arguably deserved more than results suggest. The Dutchman pushed Luke Littler all the way in Leeds last week, eventually losing 6-5 despite posting the higher average and firing in more 180s.
On the evidence of recent weeks, van Gerwen looks well worth backing here with a +2.5 start on the handicap.
Luke Humphries v Stephen Bunting - Luke Humphries Win @ 4/11 (Boylesports)
Luke Humphries has clawed his way into the top four and looks well placed to pick up another couple of points against Stephen Bunting on Thursday night. Cool Hand has finished runner-up on the previous two Thursdays to strengthen his playoff push, but he knows he can’t afford to rest on his laurels with the race for the top four becoming increasingly congested.
Bunting, meanwhile, still holds an outside chance of making the playoffs, albeit an unlikely one. However, his recent record against Humphries does little to inspire confidence. Humphries beat the Bullet last Thursday, making it four wins from their last six Premier League meetings over the past two years.
Jonny Clayton v Luke Littler - Luke Littler Win @ 3/10 (Betfred)
The last quarter-final tie of the night sees the top two go head-to-head as Jonny Clayton locks horns with Luke Littler. Clayton may have led the Premier League for much of the season, but Littler has taken control in recent weeks after storming to three straight nightly victories.
The Nuke has been vocal about his desire to finish top, and another win here would all but seal first place.
The case for siding with Littler is strengthened by the fact he defeated Clayton in last week’s final, meaning he has now come out on top in three of the last four Premier League meetings between the pair.
Premier League Darts Night 15 Weekly Winners Tips
Luke Littler To Win Night 15 @ 7/5 (SpreadEx)
It’s difficult to look beyond Luke Littler being the last player standing once again in Birmingham on Thursday night. The teenage trailblazer racked up his sixth nightly win last week to tighten his grip on top spot in the table.
Littler mentioned in his post-match interview last week that he is now targeting a seventh nightly victory to break his own record, and he has two weeks to do it, starting on Thursday night. The Nuke will first face Jonny Clayton, before a potential semi-final showdown with Luke Humphries, two players he has had the better of in recent weeks.
Should Littler reach another final, he would be the heavy odds-on favourite, especially with the players on the opposite side of the draw all struggling for consistency throughout the campaign.
Michael van Gerwen To Win Night 15 @ 9/1 (Paddy Power)
Michael van Gerwen looks good value to go all the way in Birmingham on Thursday night at best odds of 9/1 with Paddy Power. The Dutchman has slipped out of the all-important top four, meaning the pressure for points has now ramped up heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
That said, the Green Machine has been throwing some impressive stuff of late and looks to have landed on the softer side of this week’s draw. If he can get past Gerwyn Price, he would be strongly fancied to overcome either Josh Rock or Stephen Bunting in the semi-finals.
A potential final with Luke Littler would represent a serious test, though van Gerwen tends to find another gear against the Nuke. After pushing him close in recent encounters, MVG could be poised to get the better of the league leader in Birmingham.
