We are now less than a week away from the end of the Premier League season and almost everything has been decided. One thing that is still in the balance though is the matter of who will be crowned Top Goalscorer this season.
Romelu Lukaku is currently topping the charts on twenty-four goals. Lukaku is two goals clear of his nearest rival and the 3/10 favourite. However, with just one game left for him to play - away to Arsenal - it is unlikely the Belgian will be able to add to his tally.
England striker and last year’s winner, Harry Kane, is the Everton man’s main threat. On twenty-two so far for the season, Harry Kane has scored his goals in eight less games than Lukaku and currently has one extra game to play. His Tottenham side travel to Leicester on Thursday and Hull on Sunday, two teams who have nothing left to play for. It would be no surprise to anyone to see Kane score three against these two sides, so the 7/2 on offer looks great value.
An outsider according to the bookies, but someone who is by no means out of the running, is Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean is three goals back of Lukaku with twenty-one goals. Arsenal have two home games left, against Sunderland tonight and Everton on Sunday. Given Sanchez is as short as 7/2 with a couple of firms to score a hat-trick tonight, the 14/1 available on him to take the Golden Boot looks large.
As we know, the form of strikers plays a bit part and both Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez boast two goals in their last three games, whereas Lukaku has not scored in his last four. Both prices on the North London strikers look tempting and are worth a play.
