Aston Villa vs Arsenal Stats
- Arsenal have been drawing at half time in 11 league games this season.
- Aston Villa have been drawing at half time in 8 league games this season.
- Hector Bellerin has been carded in every 2.7 games this season on average.
Betting Tip: Half Time Draw
The Premier League weekend kicks off at Villa Park as two sides hoping to bounce back from frustrating defeats midweek. Villa were fully deserving of their lost to West Ham on Wednesday and the day fewer in terms of rest will be another point of frustration for Dean Smith. Morgan Sanson, the signing from Marseille could come in to freshen things up in midfield.
They’ve won just two of their last seven now but a slight dip in form was to be expected after their superb start to the campaign, whether or not Arsenal can take advantage is a tough one. The Gunners have been much improved of late and were dominant against Wolves until the sending off of David Luiz. Mikel Arteta needs to get a handle on discipline at the club, no side can match their 5 red cards this season and it is costing them points.
Betting Tip: Hector Bellerin to be Carded
With the likes of Bertrand Traore, John McGinn and Jack Grealish attacking them it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few more cards for the visitors and a red is more of a possibility against Villa than most given they attract the most fouls per game in the league (16 per game). Hector Bellerin is a prime candidate for a card at right back and is overpriced at 9/2 to go into the book. The Spaniard is likely to be up against Grealish and has picked up 7 yellows in 19 games this season. I’d make him more of a 3/1 shot.
The goal line looks quite high here, especially with both coming off the back of defeats I think it will be a case of back to basics for both sides and it could be less open than we expect. The game to be level at half time therefore appeals at a nice price.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal Odds
Despite two red cards against Wolves, Arsenal are still the bookies favourites with best odds of 7/4.
