- Borussia Dortmund have lost 3 of their last 6 games in all competitions.
- Sevilla have conceded just 16 goals in 22 La Liga games this season.
Betting Tip: Sevilla to win
Two sides in differing form meet at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Wednesday as Europa league holders Sevilla host German giants Borussia Dortmund. The hosts have been in impeccable form for a long time now, it’s now 21 wins in their last 26 games in all competitions, a hugely admirable record. It’s no surprise to see them going off favourites to win, especially in their own backyard.
Julen Lopetegui has a lot of credit in the bank and sets his side up with excellent balance. The same can’t be said for Dortmund who look a completely lop-sided outfit under interim boss Edin Terzic. BVB were shown up against at the back this weekend against Hoffenheim, the individual and collective quality of that backline is simply not good enough to last in this competition. Their focus should be on securing a top 4 finish in the Bundesliga, which is looking tougher by the day.
They of course have quality in forward areas but few defences are as stringent as the Andalusians, I’m happy to take the red-hot hosts to win here at 7/5, the money has come for them but there’s an argument Los Nervionenses should be shorter against the hapless visitors. It will also be much hotter in Seville than it is in West Germany, chuck in the travel factor and the home side have to be favoured.
Betting Tip: Ivan Rakitic to be carded
I will dip into the cards market and take the generous looking 4/1 on Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic to go into the book. The World cup finalist has picked up a card every 3 games in La Liga this season and with him getting on a bit now and the youthful energy in the Dortmund ranks he may be in line for a cynical foul, it’s in his nature.
Sevilla vs Borussia Dortmund Odds
In form Sevilla are slight favourites to beat Dortmund at odds of 17/12.
