Euro 2021 Prediction: England vs Denmark

  • England are yet to concede at Euro 2020.
  • England have the best conversion rate of any of the final four teams.
  • Denmark have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 games against England.

Euro 2020 Prediction: Half time draw

In fact, the Danes have registered an average of 6.8 shots on target per game in this competition whereas England have averaged just 3.2. Admittedly, England have given up very little at the other end but they have relied on clinical finishing to edge those games out with 50% of their shots on target finding the back of the net, a quite astonishing figure.

Gareth Southgate has certainly opted for pragmatism over flair so far, however the 4-0 win over Ukraine saw some brilliantly precise football in the final third and the link up between all the players has looked the best I’ve seen for a long time. This will be a tough game against a side who have been superbly coached by Kasper Hjulmand, nevertheless they have lost two games this summer whilst England are yet to concede, never mind lose.

It could be that difference in front of goal that ultimately separates the sides and with confidence rising in the home camp, a packed out Wembley too, you have to understand why England are pretty strong favourites. On the other hand, Denmark have won at Wembley last year and won’t fear this side. It will be competitive but I think both managers would be happy for it to be all square at the break and that makes the odds-against quotes on the draw at half time very attractive indeed.

Euro 2020 Prediction: Mason Mount to be Carded

One player who looks a big price for a card here is Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. Mount actually tops the tackles per game metric for England in this tournament with 3.3 per 90 which shows he’s happy chiming in with the dirty side of the game. In the big games he’s happy to take a caution too with 4 cards in 9 starts for the Blues in the champions league this season.

He is as short as 7/2 with some firms but there’s some 13/2 knocking about which looks worthy of a small interest in a game with so much on the line.
