Chesterfield make a memorable trip to Stanford Bridge to take on last years finalists Chelsea. The 5th tier Spireites will take heart from the 3rd tier Bradford City side that defeated the Blues a few years ago but the odds of 1/20 about the hosts say a lot about the realistic possibility of an upset here.
The hosts are likely to shake things up given Thomas Tuchel has moaned about too many games of late. Ross Barkley, Reuben Loftus-Cheek, Timo Werner, Harvey Vale and Xavi Simons May all get a start but they still should have too much quality for their counterparts.
Chesterfield have been superbly managed by the impressive James Rowe and he may be putting most of his faith in National League top scorer Kabongo Tshimanga. The former Boreham Wood man has bagged 18 goals in 20 league games and is no doubt attracting plenty of EFL interest.
Defensively the visitors have been solid this season, conceding just 16 goals in 20 games and in confident they can set up to frustrate the home side. Taking the 4/5 on Chelsea to win and under 4.5 goals might therefore be a clever way in. It cops in a large majority of the Blues’ victories under Tuchel.
