Fulham are looking to push up towards the European places, but given they have lost 16 of their last 18 Premier League matches against sides starting the day at the top of the table, will Arsenal be able to secure three more points?
Fulham vs Arsenal Stats
- Fulham have scored in 11 of their 13 home league games this season
- Both teams have scored in five of the Gunners’ last seven outings
- Both teams to score has landed in four of the previous five meetings between these two outfits
Fulham vs Arsenal Prediction:
Betting Tip: Both teams to score
Despite not winning any of their last two league games, Fulham currently occupy seventh spot in the table, one point above both Brighton and Brentford. Finishing there would represent a successful return to the top flight for the Cottagers and it’s their ability to hit the back of the net on a consistent basis that has aided them in pursuing a top half finish.
For any newly-promoted team, scoring goals is vital and if there are struggles in that department, it can be a long season. However, in their 13 league games at Craven Cottage this season, they have scored in 11 of them, only failing to do so against Tottenham and Everton and they actually dominated in both of those encounters.
The Gunners are showing signs of champions. They don’t know when they’re beaten and seem to emerge victorious even when they’re staring down the barrel. That was evident in their 3-2 victory over Bournemouth last weekend as they came from 2-0 down and secured a stoppage time winner.
However, as remarkable as that is, boss Mikel Arteta will want to try and avoid those situations by tightening up defensively. Arsenal have conceded in over half of their league games this season and a trip to a packed Craven Cottage will see them have to endure various stages of being under pressure.
Combine that with the fact they were involved in a 2-2 draw away to Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night, another match where they had to come from behind, then it leads me to think there could be some joy for Fulham here.
When I say joy, I don't necessarily think they will hand Arsenal a defeat, but the hosts have been unbeaten in ten of their 13 home games this season and will be a tough nut to crack. But only Southampton have kept fewer clean sheets at home this season than Fulham and there will inevitably be plenty of opportunities for Arsenal to get on the scoresheet and take three more points.
All things considered, there should be plenty of chances on offer at both ends and the 10/11 on both teams to score looks great value.
