We are back with a bang after the international break as Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side have a one-point lead over both Liverpool and Arsenal coming into this weekend and they will be hoping to extend that advantage over at least one of them with a win here.

Manchester City vs Liverpool Prediction

Manchester City are the strong favourites to retain their Premier League title and it’s easy to see why. They’ve had plenty to contend with this season and even suffered back-to-back defeats in the league last month but they still went into the November international break on top.

Pep Guardiola has a deep squad that can contend with the severe injury crisis. He has the tactical nous to overcome any obstacles put before him and his Manchester City juggernaut. Another win this weekend against Jurgen Klopp’s side will have many prematurely crowning them champions of England once again.

City’s home record is enough to terrify any opponent. Brentford were the only side to beat them at the Etihad last season. In fact, they have suffered just three home defeats in the 43 matches since the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Liverpool 2.0 is in full swing. They’ve embarked on a  rebuild in the past couple of seasons and they now look to have a team that is capable of challenging for silverware once again. They dropped out of the Champions League last season but their ambitions for this campaign go far beyond making it into the top four.

Klopp’s side are the 3rd highest scorers in the Premier League this season with an average of 2.25 goals per game. They have managed to replace Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Mohamed Salah is thriving in their new-look attack and Darwin Nunez is starting to show the qualities that enticed Liverpool into paying such a big fee for the Uruguayan.

The Reds have a perfect record at Anfield this season. They have won their nine matches at home across all competitions and all of those victories have been by at least a two-goal margin. However, their away form has been slightly indifferent and their record at the Etihad is far from satisfactory. Liverpool have won just one of their last 13 league matches at this ground. This was a 4-1 win back in 2015.

Our betting angle for this crunch clash is over 3.5 offsides in the match at odds of 11/10 with Unibet.

The head-to-head stats surrounding offsides suggest we could comfortably exceed this line. There were eight offsides in this fixture last season. The last five matches between these sides at the Etihad have seen an average of six offsides per game.

Both of these sides have a preference for playing a high defensive line and this lends itself nicely to offsides. Each team has attackers that will look to play on the shoulder of the opposition defence and we should see four offsides as a result.

The line appears to be a little low based on the averages of each team's home and away matches this season but Manchester City seldom take on a team that possesses the quality of Liverpool.

Tip: Over 3.5 Offsides In The Match @ 11/10 Unibet
