Norway vs Czech Republic – Norway to Win

Norway clash with Czech Republic in the Ulleval Stadium this Friday in an international friendly. Czech Republic have set their sights on the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany this summer and will be looking to use these friendlies to build some momentum going into that. Norway on the other hand, failed to qualify and will be hoping to use this game as a chance to recover as they look towards the 2024 Nations League.

Despite their failure to qualify, Norway is by no means in poor form, they have won 10 of their last 12 friendly matches and have won five of their last seven matches which includes a 6-0 win over Jordan and a 4-0 win against Cyprus.

Their failure to qualify can be put down to the difficult group they were put in. They faced one of the favourites to win the competition in Spain, and a surprisingly consistent Scotland side who managed to string together a run of five consecutive wins in their group games (including a 2-0 win over Spain).

Czech Republic scraped through the Euro 2024 qualification stages and are currently going through somewhat a turbulent stage as the man who led them through these games, Jarsalv Silhavy, has since resigned.

They drew against world 155th ranked side Moldova and lost 3-0 to 64th ranked Albania during their qualification games and relied heavily on Poland’s poor form in order to qualify. They are also without key players in Coufal, Jan Kuchta and Jakub Brabec who are not included in the side for disciplinary reasons.

Norway has some world class talent in players like Erling Haaland and Martin Odeegard and their failure to qualify for the Euro’s does not signify a failing side. Meanwhile, Czech Republic were very lucky to qualify and are clearly working through some internal issues at the moment. 

Norway has the better side and the better form and should take advantage of the fractured Czech side who have struggled against far lesser opponents recently.

Nigeria vs Ghana – Nigeria to Win

Afcon Finalists Nigeria go up against Ghana in the North Africa derby at Stade de Marrakech. Both sides go into this game with new managers who will be hoping to get off to a good start.

Nigeria have been in incredible form recently after winning five of their seven African Cup of Nations fixtures and reaching the final where they were defeated by a strong Ivory Coast side.

They kept a clean sheet in four of their opening five games in the tournament and were unbeaten until the final.

Ghana on the other hand, had a horrific time at Afcon, failing to win a single fixture and losing to Cape Verde before they were sent home after the group stages. They have also won just once in eight games in all competitions.

They have scored just seven goals in their last seven games, failing to net in three of those matches.

With Nigeria’s defence in their current form, coming up against a side struggling to score at the moment I think this game will be a tough fixture for the Ghana attack and they won't have much luck. Nigeria, have been scoring consistently and shouldn’t struggle to score against a side that have conceded 12 in the last five. 

I think Ghana will be another side who struggles to find the net against Nigeria, and if the Super Eagles continue the way they are going at the other end of the pitch, it should be a routine win for them.

Spain vs Columbia – Both Teams to Score

Spain come up against Columbia at the London Stadium on Friday night. Both sides are working towards major competitions with Columbia preparing for Copa America in June and Spain looking ahead to the Euro 2024 tournament this summer.

Both sides are on winning streaks with Columbia winning four in a row and Spain winning their previous eight fixtures. 

Spain have scored 22 goals in their last six games (averaging 3.66 goals per game) while Columbia have not failed to score in their last six. 

Despite Spain being undoubtedly one of the best sides international Football, Columbia poses a real threat, they are unbeaten in their 19 games and have recent notable wins against Brazil, Germany and Mexico. 

I am confident that Spain will find the back of the net in this game with their impressive scoring record.

Columbia, however, will most certainly make this an interesting game with their refusal to lose in recent times. They have put two goals past each of Uruguay, Brazil and Germany recently and I think they will be able to score at least once against a Spanish side that have conceded against Georgia and Cyprus in their last two games.
