I have been waiting for WAL BUCK’S to step up in trip and he does here in what looks a winnable race on paper. He did run a bit flat at Sandown last month but that wasn’t a bad race and he just looked outpaced when the taps were turned on. Stretching out to near 3 miles for the first time he should be well handicapped off his current mark. Rumble B has caught the eye a couple of times and stepped forward to win at Sedgefield last time but he is a 10yo and he is unlikely to keep improving up another 4lb. Lucky So And So is a bigger danger after a good second at Lingfield.

Despite a mistake at the last REPUBLICAN still managed to make a winning debut for Harry Derham at Musselburgh when last seen. He stayed on well away from the last and the front pair pulled 6 lengths clear from the rest too. He is up 5lb but he could easily have more to come over this trip for his new trainer and I’m keen to chance him following up. Sporting Mike was only sixth at Ascot last month but that form is working out notably well with the third, fourth, seventh and even one that pulled up all winning since. He could build on that and if he does he will be the main threat.
