Southgate fielded questions on the composition of his midfield in the build-up to this match. The England boss recognised that Bellingham has been deployed further up the pitch by  Carl Ancelotti. Gareth will be tempted to utilise Jude’s qualities further up the pitch with Harry Kane sidelined with an ankle injury.

Bellingham has netted 16 goals in 22 appearances for Real Madrid this season. His non-penalty xG of 0.44 per 90 minutes puts him in the top 3% when compared with all other attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe’s top five leagues.

England have been formidable of late and should create a wealth of chances despite taking on another top side. They have scored 15 goals in their last five home matches.
