Liverpool to Win

Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 earlier in the season. The goals came late but Liverpool dominated proceedings, having 78% possession. The Toffees will look to remain resolute once again but the quality of Jurgen Klopp’s side can make the difference.

The Reds have lost just two of their last 20 matches in the Premier League. They are averaging 2.35 goals per game over that period. Klopp’s side have been in fantastic form but cannot afford to drop any points if they are to beat both Manchester City and Arsenal to the league crown. Expect another strong performance from Liverpool here.

The Merseyside Derby is often a struggle for Everton. They have won just once in their last 20 matches against their local rivals. Sean Dyche’s side have been involved in a relegation battle this season and their home record won’t inspire confidence. They have won just five of their 16 Premier League matches at Goodison Park this season.

Over 9.5 Corners

Everton’s best chance of hurting Liverpool is from set pieces. They cannot afford to risk giving the ball away in deeper areas of the pitch and a direct approach should mean they chip in with a few corners. Their home matches in the league this season have seen an average of 10.25 corners with the Toffees averaging five.

Liverpool should make the greater contribution to the corner count here. They are averaging 6.19 corners in their away matches this season. Those games have seen an average of 11.06 corners overall.

There were 16 corners when these sides clashed at Anfield earlier in the season. The last meeting at this ground saw 16 corners, seven for Everton and nine for Liverpool.  The home side will look to absorb the Liverpool onslaught in stages and that should allow the corner count to soar.

Over 1.5 Fouls For Abdoulaye Doucoure

Everton have committed the second most fouls in the Premier League this season with an average of 12.48 per game. This game against Liverpool means so much to the Everton faithful so they will get stuck in as usual. They are still firmly in the battle against relegation so this one could get physical.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has committed the most fouls for Everton this season. His tally of 49 fouls made means he has committed the 5th most in the Premier League. He made two fouls and was booked in his sides’ vital win over Nottingham Forest last weekend. Doucoure was also booked the last time he started against Liverpool.
