The 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season is upon us and all 12 teams will be dreaming of an exciting and ultimately successful campaign. It all gets underway on Saturday lunchtime as Hearts and Rangers square off at Tynecastle in this season’s curtain-raiser.
After finishing last season eight points behind champions Celtic, Rangers will be aiming to wrestle the title back from their Old Firm rivals.
The Bhoys bagged a third straight Scottish Premiership title last season, meaning their iron grip on the division has seen them hoover up 12 of the last 13 top-flight crowns.
Can anyone stop Brendan Rodgers’ green and white juggernaut from winning the title again this season?
Scottish Premiership 2024/25 Predictions
Celtic have been priced up as 1/2 favourites on Betway to win the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership and they should confirm their superiority by securing a fourth successive title.
Brendan Rodgers enjoyed a trophy-laden spell as Celtic manager between 2016 and 2019 but he left under a cloud by jumping ship to Leicester mid-season.
However, steering Celtic to a league and cup double in his first season back in the Hoops hotseat was a massive step on the road to redemption for Rodgers, who will now have his sights set on a domestic clean sweep as well as making a splash in the Champions League.
The Northern Irishman has a settled squad at his disposal and the signing of Kasper Schmeichel looks a shrewd move, as does the permanent return of Paulo Bernardo.
That kind of continuity is in stark contrast to the challenge facing Rangers across the city who have a huge rebuilding job on their hands on the pitch, and to a lesser extent off the pitch.
A number of Rangers’ old guard have departed Glasgow this summer while boss Philippe Clement is still keen to offload a few other members of his squad as their seemingly never ending overhaul continues.
To make matters worse, a construction mishap means the Light Blues will be locked out of Ibrox until October at the earliest, so they will have to fulfil their home fixtures at Hampden. As such, Rangers face a daunting task to bring Celtic’s perennial period of dominance to an end.
Elsewhere, Hearts are 2/1 favourites on bet365 to finish best of the rest for the second year on the bounce. Steven Naismith’s side were a cut above everyone else outside of the Old Firm last term but replicating those efforts this time around could be trickier given that they will have continental commitments to contend with.
On top of this, a stronger challenge in the fight for third place is expected from both Aberdeen (3/1) and Hibernian (11/4) this season.
As for the other end of the table, St Johnstone are 11/5 favourites on bet365 to be propping up the Scottish Premiership next May. The Saints have been circling the drain over the past few seasons and another fight for survival appears to be lying in wait.
It could be a similar story for 7/2 (Betfred) shots Ross County who have had to negotiate the play-offs to stave off relegation in the last two years.
Scottish Premiership Betting Tips
Celtic to Win the Scottish Premiership @ 1/2 on Betway
Celtic are 1/2 favourites on Betway to successfully defend their Scottish Premiership title and they look a solid price to reign supreme again.
The Hoops’ squad remains far superior to that of their Old Firm rivals Rangers and boss Brendan Rodgers will not let any complacency set in after last year’s league and cup double success. The same selection is as short as 4/11 with other bookmakers.
Ross County Bottom 2 Finish @ 6/4 on BetVictor
Ross County have finished in the bottom two of the Scottish Premiership in each of the last two seasons and a repeat looks worth supporting at 6/4 on BetVictor.
Having lost key duo Simon Murray and Yan Dhanda over the summer, the Staggies look a considerably weaker outfit than the one that finished up in the relegation play-off spot last term.
Rookie boss Don Cowie has been handed the reins on a permanent basis and another battle to beat the drop beckons in Dingwall.
