Huddersfield Town endured a disappointing end to their return to League One last season, losing eight of their final nine games and finishing tenth. The summer brought a major overhaul, with thirteen new signings and Lee Grant stepping in as manager. The changes appear to be paying off, as the Terriers have made a strong start this season, winning four of their opening six matches and currently sitting sixth in the table.
Their victories have come against Leyton Orient, Reading, Doncaster, and Stevenage, with Huddersfield scoring two or more goals in three of these wins. Home form has been particularly impressive, boasting three wins from three at the John Smith’s Stadium without conceding a single goal.
In contrast, Peterborough United are struggling at the other end of the table, having taken just one point from six matches. Defensive frailties are evident, with the Posh conceding two or more goals in four of their five league defeats, aswell as two away at Accrington and three at home to a ten-man Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy.
Given Huddersfield’s attacking potency and Peterborough’s defensive struggles, the Terriers are expected to dominate from the start. A home win with over one goal scored looks like strong value.

Wycombe Wanderers have endured a tough run of form under manager Mike Dodds, who replaced Matt Bloomfield halfway through last season after he joined Championship club Luton. The Chairboys are without a win since April 18th and are currently languishing in the relegation zone. Pressure is mounting on the ex-Sunderland youth coach following a 1-2 defeat at home to a rotated Colchester side in the EFL Trophy.
This season, four of their six games have seen both teams score, and they now face a Mansfield Town side sitting tenth in the league. The Stags come into the match buoyed by three wins and a draw in their last four league games, as well as an EFL Cup victory away at rivals Chesterfield. Nigel Clough’s side have scored in every game, with both teams scoring in five of their six matches, only failing to do so at home to Blackpool.
With Mansfield expected to attack from the outset and Wycombe continuing to struggle, both teams scoring looks likely once again.

All three of Shrewsbury Town’s away games this season have seen over 2.5 goals largely due to their poor defensive record. They now face a Barnet side that has found the adjustment to League Two challenging and currently sit fifteenth in the league after three games unbeaten.

Of Barnet’s six games so far, only one has seen over 2.5 goals. Shrewsbury have scored just two goals all season, the fewest in the league. Barnet, on the other hand, are likely to settle for a low-scoring win, as they have done against Cheltenham and Swindon.

After falling short in their promotion push last season, Stuart Maynard was dismissed as Notts County manager. In a bold move, the hierarchy appointed Martin Patterson despite his poor reputation from his time at Burton. The summer also brought major departures, with goalkeeper Alex Bass sold to Peterborough and hometown hero David McGoldrick moving to Barnsley, while only cheap replacements arrived in their place.
The Magpies have struggled as a result, sitting thirteenth, three points off the play-offs already. Both teams have scored in all six of their league games, highlighting their shaky defence but also their ability to find the net.
Fleetwood Town visit Meadow Lane in similarly goal-filled form. Scott Brown’s side have seen both teams score in four of their six games, while managing to find the net in every match so far.
Given the trends from both clubs, another game where both teams score looks highly likely.

Chesterfield began the season as second favourites for the League Two title and currently sit second in the table, just one point behind leaders Gillingham. Paul Cook’s side have been prolific in attack, scoring eleven goals – the joint-most in the league – but their defensive record is less convincing, with eight conceded. A heavily rotated side was thrashed 7-1 away at Crewe in the EFL Trophy in midweek, underlining their defensive frailties.
The Spireites have scored in every game so far, but they have also conceded in their last four, with both teams scoring in four of the last six.
Walsall, meanwhile, sit sixth as they aim to bounce back from last season’s dramatic collapse. While both teams have scored in only two of their six league games, the Saddlers will be confident of exploiting Chesterfield’s shaky defence.
With one of the division’s strongest attacks up against a Walsall side looking to push into the promotion picture, this has the makings of an entertaining clash.
