Oli Nixon picks out his bet bet builder selections for the Crystal Palace vs Man United game on Sunday.
Crystal Palace vs Man United
A humbling defeat to 10-man Everton on Monday evening has quietened whispers of a Man Utd return to form and this game is of particular intrigue given that Palace boss Oliver Glasner would be the name on most Red Devils fans lips to replace Ruben Amorim.
The Eagles had a disappointing defeat of their own in European action during midweek and so both sides will be desperate to get back on track.

Crystal Palace to Win
With the state of both clubs currently, Crystal Palace feel overpriced to get a third home victory of the season. Granted, the South London club will be more fatigued than their visitors given their trip to France on Thursday night but having won three of the last four meetings between these sides, they’ll be confident of winning a third league game in their last four. United last won at Selhurst Park back in 2020 and they don’t look in a great position to change that record.
Ruben Amorim will have been hopeful that three consecutive league victories to start October was going to be the beginning of United’s revival, however, two disappointing draws and the aforementioned defeat to Everton have brought him back to reality. Their victory at Anfield is their only win on the road all season and with Palace looking so strong, this game well be another nail in Amorim’s coffin.
Jean-Philippe Mateta to Score Anytime
If we’re getting behind a Palace win, it feels sensible to also have their talisman Jean-Philippe Mateta on side. The Frenchman sits joint fourth in the top goalscorer standings on six goals and given that he last netted on November 1st, he’ll be desperate to get back on the scoresheet. He’ll be pleased to face United then, as he’s scored three goals in the last three head-to-heads and so he clearly enjoys facing the fallen giants.
I’ve touched upon the visitors’ poor record on their travels already and it’s no more positive defensively where they’ve shipped 12 goals in six Premier League games. The side from Old Trafford last kept their opponents out on March 16th away in the league and with such a glaring weakness at the back, Mateta definitely has the credentials to take advantage.
Daniel Munoz Over 1.5 Fouls Committed
With an average of 1.44 fouls per 90 across all competitions this season, Daniel Munoz is Crystal Palace’s most prolific offender when it comes to giving away free kicks. The wing back is given complete freedom to get forward and attack as much as possible which regularly means he’s caught out of position and having to make cynical fouls.
Helping this leg of our betbuilder along is Munoz’s likely opponent in Patrick Dorgu who draws three fouls per 90 in a United shirt. The Dane’s habit of getting forward himself makes him a strong candidate to start and pin Munoz back and if he does so then the Colombian will do well to avoid a couple of offences.
