Arsenal face Manchester City in the 2026 Community Shield at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday.
It is a fixture with plenty riding on it beyond the trophy itself. Arsenal arrive as reigning Premier League champions, while Manchester City enter a new era under Enzo Maresca following Pep Guardiola's departure after a decade in charge. City also lifted the FA Cup last season, making this a meeting between the two sides who claimed the biggest domestic honours in England last term.
The Community Shield has often been treated as a glorified friendly, but there is a different feel to this one. Arsenal are looking to lay down an early marker as they defend their league crown, while Maresca gets his first competitive opportunity to show what his Manchester City side will look like.
Here is everything you need to know, including the latest team news, predicted lineups, odds and our best betting angles.
Who is the Betting Favourite in Arsenal vs Man City?
According to the latest odds on Oddschecker, Arsenal are 13/8 favourites to win the Community Shield in 90 minutes, with Manchester City at 9/5 and the draw priced at 5/2.
The trophy market is even closer, with Arsenal priced at 17/20 to lift the trophy and City at 19/20. That reflects the possibility of penalties should the match finish level after 90 minutes.
Arsenal vs Man City Team News
Arsenal have received a major boost ahead of the game, with Mikel Arteta confirming that Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi are all available after returning to training following extended breaks after the World Cup. All three missed Arsenal's pre-season programme, but Arteta said they could feature if they come through the final training sessions.
There are still defensive concerns, however. William Saliba remains sidelined with the back injury he sustained during the World Cup, while Jurrien Timber is still several weeks away from returning to full training following his groin problem.
Martin Odegaard is another player to watch. The Arsenal captain made just 16 Premier League starts last season because of recurring injuries, but Arteta believes he can benefit from a more consistent campaign this time around.
For City, the biggest storyline is Maresca's competitive debut. The former Chelsea boss has inherited a squad that won the FA Cup and League Cup last season but finished second in the Premier League.
Rodri remains unavailable as he works his way back to fitness after lifting the World Cup, while Jack Grealish, Savinho and academy prospect Max McAidoo are also among the players with fitness concerns heading into the clash.

Arsenal vs Man City Best Bet
Bet 1: Viktor Gyokeres Anytime Goalscorer @ 9/4
The former Sporting striker is an interesting option at 9/4 given Arsenal's attacking setup and the likelihood that he will be the focal point of their attack.
City's new-look defensive structure is still a work in progress, while Arsenal have had considerably more continuity under Arteta.
Gyokeres also has the advantage of being Arsenal's natural focal point. If the Gunners dominate possession and get their wide players into advanced areas, the Sweden international should see plenty of opportunities inside the box.
Bet 2: Cristhian Mosquera - Over 1.5 Fouls Committed @ 7/4
Mosquera's recent disciplinary numbers make Over 1.5 Fouls Committed an appealing leg. The Arsenal defender has committed 1, 1, 4, 2 and 2 fouls across his last five Premier League appearances, averaging 2.21 fouls per game over that stretch. His four-foul performance came against Manchester City, where he repeatedly had to bring down Jeremy Doku as the Belgian looked to attack him one-on-one. Reports from that game noted that Mosquera committed four fouls inside 36 minutes.
The matchup could again put him under pressure, particularly with Erling Haaland offering City a constant threat through the middle and in behind. If Mosquera is forced into recovery challenges or physical duels, clearing two fouls looks achievable given his recent numbers.
Arsenal vs Man City Match Prediction
This is a difficult game to call, particularly with both managers likely to have one eye on the Premier League opener.
Arsenal have the advantage of continuity and home-like familiarity with Arteta's system, although the return of several World Cup players without a full pre-season could complicate their preparations.
City, meanwhile, have the benefit of an almost entirely new managerial cycle. Maresca will want to make an immediate impression, but Arsenal's greater familiarity should count for something.
The fact that Arsenal are 13/8 favourites, compared with 9/5 for City, suggests the market sees very little between the teams.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City
