Leicester v Bournemouth

The Brendan Rodgers Revolution is in full swing, and I’m backing his Leicester side to beat Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Foxes have won three of their last four matches – most recently a fantastic 2-1 victory over Burnley despite a fourth minute red card – and I suspect Claude Puel isn’t being missed by many.

Bournemouth may have beaten Huddersfield in their last away game, but the nine straight defeats which preceded it doesn’t suggest they’re up to much on the road.

Aston Villa v Blackburn

Aston Villa are one of the many sides vying for a Championship play-off place, and four straight league victories suggests they’ll take some budging from sixth place.

I don’t envisage they’ll slip-up against Blackburn, who have lost seven of their last nine matches and look well and truly on the beach.

Tony Mowbray’s men have shipped 16 goals in their last five away games, which is bad news for their trip to free-scoring Villa.

This’ll be a home win.

Aston Villa - 1pt @ 4/6

Sheffield Utd v Bristol City

Sheffield United’s victory at Elland Road puts them in the automatic promotion driving seat alongside Norwich, and I’m backing them to follow this up with a win against stuttering Bristol City.

Lee Johnson’s side are no strangers to a slump, and two points from their last five matches suggests they don’t quite have enough to sustain a promotion push.

Sheffield United do have enough: The Blades have won their last eight at Bramall Lane – keeping seven clean sheets along the way – and just look to unerringly consistent to give City a sniff.

Sheffield Utd - 1pt @ 3/4

Charlton v Bradford

Heading down to League One, I’m expecting Charlton to beat basement boys Bradford.

The Bantams have lost five of their last six, and look destined to plunge into League Two after a six-year stay in the third-tier.

At the other end of the table, Charlton have cemented themselves a play-off place, and are unbeaten at The Valley since October.

The points will remain in south-east London this Saturday.

Charlton - 1pt @ 37/50

Tranmere v Carlisle

My final selection is in League Two, where I have rampant Tranmere to beat Carlisle at home.

The hosts have won their last six league matches, and all of a sudden find themselves just five points off the top three with a game in hand.

Carlisle have won one of their last nine – seeing them drop out of the play-offs – which is why 23/20 is such a tasty price.

I wouldn’t discount Tranmere sneaking into the automatics ahead of MK Dons & Mansfield, and victory over Carlisle would be a big step towards this goal.
