Get stuck into this 4/1 Champions League treble!
Atalanta v Shakhtar Donetsk - 17:55
Atalanta endured a harrowing Champions League debut a fortnight ago—falling to a 4-0 away defeat at Dinamo Zagreb—but they’re too good to continue this trend, which is why I’m backing both teams to score when they welcome Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday (though if I had to swing a certain way, I’d suggest the hosts will also win).
Atalanta were Serie A’s top scorers last season, and currently sit 3rd in the table – coming into this fixture on the back of away wins at Roma and Sassuolo.
Shakhtar are experienced campaigners at this level, and last season scored five away goals against Lyon and Hoffenheim, before putting another past Eintracht Frankfurt on the road in the Europa League.
This should be a pretty open affair, with both teams scoring a likely outcome.
Juventus v Bayer Leverkusen - 20:00
Juventus haven’t been at their free-flowing best this season, but I’m backing them to beat Bayer Leverkusen at home.
The visitors suffered a disastrous home defeat to Lokomotiv Moscow in their opener, while Juventus threw away a two-goal lead to draw at Atletico Madrid – which, on the face of it, is still a pretty good result.
Juve were unbeaten at home last season in Serie A, and I believe 1/2 for a team of their calibre—containing the best player in Champions League history—to win at home is still a tad generous.
Tottenham v Bayern Munich - 20:00
Finally, I have Bayern Munich beating Spurs.
Spurs ground out a much-needed victory on Saturday against Southampton—in the face of a red card and a Hugo Lloris howler—but I’m still not totally convinced by them, and I expect Bayern to exploit this.
Bayern have only dropped points once since the opening day of the season, that being a credible 1-1- draw at an excellent Leipzig side, while Spurs have only managed to win twice since the opening day, and there’s quite evidently discontent somewhere behind the scenes.
With 20 goals in their last six matches, Bayern are scoring goals for fun, and considering Spurs have one clean sheet from their seven Premier League matches, the away side are my pick to take the points.
