Cyprus v Russia -17:00

Russia look like a very good side indeed. Their 4-0 demolition of a dreadful Scotland side wasn’t unexpected, but they’ve now won their last six matches – including a victory against Sunday’s opponents in Nizhniy Novgorod.

To their credit, Cyprus are unbeaten in three (though that run does include two games against Kazakhstan and one against San Marino), but ultimately Russia are just a little too good.

It’ll be fairly competitive and I can’t imagine there will be much in the scoreline, but the cream will still rise to the top.

Russia - 1pt @ 8/15

Scotland v San Marino

I’m giving San Marino a +6 handicap in their trip to Scotland.

The Scots are appalling, and I don’t quite know why a +6 handicap for the visitors is as long as 5/6! The hosts mustered just a 2-0 win in the away fixture, and while San Marino lost 9-0 away at Belgium and Russia, Scotland have only found the net five times in seven matches in qualifying.

To put this into perspective: in San Marino’s five group matches against Cyprus, Kazakhstan and Scotland, they haven’t lost by a margin of over five goals.

Can Scotland suddenly break the shackles and deal the visitors an almighty hammering? I’m not so sure.

San Marino +6 - 1pt @ 5/6

Estonia v Germany

In the later kick-off, I expect Germany to batter Estonia with a -3 handicap.

The Germans beat Estonia 8-0 back in June, and Group C’s bottom side—who have one point from six matches, with two goals and 18 concessions—aren’t going to have a much better time of it this time around.

The talismanic Serge Gnabry has already bagged five goals in qualifying, and there are signs that Joachim Löw’s men are looking more like their old selves.

The equally-prolific Dutch stuck four past Estonia on the road earlier in the season, and a similarly-emphatic margin of victory is a tempting price for this fixture.
