It's Saturday, which means there's an 8/1 EFL treble to get stuck into!
Luton v Bristol City - Championship - 15:00
There’s plenty of value knocking around on Saturday, but Bristol City at 13/8 to beat Luton away will be hard to beat.
The Hatters have really struggled this season, losing six times and failing to keep a single clean sheet. They stay out of the relegation zone courtesy of some absolute dross below them, but their shockingly bad defence, which has conceded 20 goals this season, will put their Championship status in jeopardy if they don’t tighten up.
For a while now, Bristol City have been better on the road than at Ashton Gate, and it’s the same this season. In their six away games, they’ve won three and drawn three; their last two stalemates coming at Preston and Brentford, which are much harder places to go than Kenilworth Road.
At this price, and considering City average two goals-per-away-game, 13/8 should be snapped up.
Newport County v Scunthorpe - League Two
Newport are unbeaten in their six home games this season, winning four; Scunthorpe have one point from their six away games. Newport are 11/10 to beat Scunthorpe at home.
There is method to the bookies’ madness: Scunny are unbeaten in six, and certainly improving, but their away form is just abhorrent, and I cannot see how they compete with a Newport side who are so supremely solid at Rodney Parade.
The fact that the Iron have failed to score in three of their last four on the road, coupled with clean sheets in four of Newport’s last five at home, surely points to only one outcome – a home win.
Colchester v Morecambe - 15:00
A shorter-priced one to end with: Colchester to beat Morecambe at home.
It’s been a real struggle for the Shrimps this year, and they currently sit at the bottom of the Football League, having earned just two points from their last nine league outings.
Jim Bentley’s men have shipped three goals in each of their last four away fixtures, which is why Colchester—who have won three and drawn one of their last four on home soil—will get the job done.
