Will this 5/1 double prove lucky?
Brighton v Everton
Despite most bookies inexplicably making them second-favourites, I’m confident Brighton will beat Everton at home.
The Seagulls are playing some mind-blowing football under Graham Potter, and their league position in no way reflects how impressive they’ve been – a combination of red cards and bad luck have really hurt them so far, but they will fancy their chances against an Everton side who travel very poorly.
The Toffees have just one point in their four away games against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Burnley (failing to score in three), and considering Albion hammered Spurs 3-0 in their last Amex encounter, you’d have to feel 17/10 is a price worth taking for a home win.
Brighton won this fixture last season, and they’ll be quietly confident of a repeat on Saturday.
West Ham v Sheffield Utd
At what’s a generous 21/20, I like under 2.5 goals in West Ham v Sheffield United.
Just two of the Blades’ nine league matches this year have seen over 2.5 goals, and their impressive defensive solidity has really caused opposition sides problems.
West Ham games have been a little more open, but over half of their matches have also seen under three goals.
Chris Wilder will want to make this a slog for West Ham, and I think he succeeds.
