Will this 16/1 EFL four-fold prove lucky?
Huddersfield v Birmingham - Championship
Huddersfield have been totally revitalised under Danny Cowley, and they are a great price to beat Birmingham City at the John Smith’s.
The Terriers have lost just one of their last eight league matches (against a very good Preston side), as well as two of their last three at home.
The Blues, on the other hand, have lost six of their previous seven away games in the league—failing to score in four—which is why 8/5 for a home win seems a tad large.
MK Dons v Rotherham - League One
MK Dons have seriously struggled in recent months, and Russell Martin has a huge job on his hands to salvage the season.
The hosts have lost 12 of their last 14 games in all competitions, and this dreadful run looks set to continue against Rotherham: one of the stronger sides in the division who are starting to develop some serious momentum.
The Millers head this game on the back of three straight away victories—made more impressive by the fact that the opponents included Blackpool and Ipswich—so I do like them in this fixture as well.
Southend v Oxford - League One
As I’ve said before, Southend look like perhaps the worst side in the football league, and I fully expect them to lose against a destructive Oxford side.
Karl Robinson’s men are League One’s second-top scorers (33 goals in 16 games), and they come up against a Southend side who have shipped 18 (!!!) more goals than anyone else in the league.
Southend have earned one home point all season, while Oxford are unbeaten since September 7; the three points are only going one way.
Northampton v Grimsby - League Two
And finally, in League Two, I’m backing in-form Northampton to overcome manager-less Grimsby.
The Mariners have just a single point from their last four league matches (scoring just once), but it’s the form of the Cobblers which really gives me confidence.
Keith Curle’s men have won four and drawn one of their last five—including a brilliant 4-1 victory over high-flying Crewe last time out—and five wins from seven at Sixfields is also ominous for the visitors.
