Wednesday's tasty treble comes in at 6/1!
Genk v Salzburg - 20:00
Salzburg are a very good side, and it’s so unfortunate they’ve been drawn into a group containing Napoli and Liverpool; however, I believe they beat Genk away from home to keep themselves in the hunt.
The Austrian outfit hammered Genk 6-2 in the group opener, while also securing a creditable draw at Napoli after falling to a swashbuckling defeat at Anfield.
The same praise can’t be extended to Genk, who have won just one of their last eight in all competitions, and the explosiveness and counter-attacking potential of Salzburg will cause them all sorts of problems.
I’m backing the visitors.
Lille v Ajax - 20:00
Lille are on a shocking run of form, and I fully expect Ajax to capitalise.
The hosts have lost three of their last four matches (while winning just one of their last 10), and they simply won’t be able to handle this outstanding Ajax side.
Erik ten Hag’s men were brilliant at Stamford Bridge, and would’ve certainly won the match without the red cards, and they’ll be confident ahead of this one, particularly considering they beat Lille 3-0 in their opener.
RB Leipzig v Benfica - 20:00
Finally, I have a feeling RB Leipzig will beat Benfica at home with a -1 handicap.
Benfica have lost their two previous Champions League away games by two goals (against Zenit and Lyon), and it looks like they’re facing this Leipzig side at the worst possible time.
Not only have they won their last five matches, but the Germans have secured 6-1, 8-0, 4-2 and 4-1 wins since October 30; they are a terrifying prospect to face.
Leipzig beat Benfica 2-1 away from home, and I suspect the margin of victory will only be greater this time around.
