Wednesday's Champions League offering comes in at 4/1!
Shakhtar Donetsk v Atalanta - 17:55
Shakhtar v Atalanta looks a nailed-on pick for both teams to score.
Like last season, Atalanta are the top scorers in Serie A, and they’ve only failed to find the net in just one Champions League game this season – despite facing Manchester City twice.
As for Shakhtar, their last four European matches have ended with both teams scoring—including a 2-1 victory over Atalanta—and with qualification still very possible for both sides, we might be in for an action-packed treat.
Olympiakos v Red Star Belgrade - 20:00
Next, I have Olympiakos beating Red Star at the Karaiskakis Stadium.
The Greek side were impressive in their home games against Spurs and Bayern—drawing 2-2 and losing 2-3 respectively—and while Red Star beat them 3-1 in Belgrade, Olympiakos were 1-0 up until a 57th minute red card.
Red Star have been hammered four times by Spurs and Bayern by an aggregate score of 18-0, and their notoriously poor European away form will sting them once again in Athens.
Bayer Leverkusen v Juventus - 20:00
Last but not least, I’m predicting Bayer Leverkusen beat Juventus at home.
The key factor here is that Leverkusen realistically have to win here in order to qualify for the last-16, while Juventus are guaranteed top spot, and with the Serie A title race very much on, it would be crazy for Maurizio Sarri to risk many of his big guns.
Furthermore, the hosts are unbeaten in six matches – a run which has included victories over Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich and Schalke. They’re flying.
Juve have just one point from their last two league matches, most recently a defeat at Lazio, which means Inter’s lead at the top of Serie A has stretched to two points.
Leverkusen have the form, and the desire, to win this one.
