Swansea v Wigan - Championship

Kicking-off this double, I have Swansea beating Wigan in the Championship at a generous evens.

Wigan have just seven points from their 14 away games this season, and while they finally got their first win on the road against Birmingham a couple of weeks ago, I see this as little more than a false dawn – and the reason why Swansea aren’t much shorter.

The Swans have been inconsistent for a while now, but three wins from their last six in the league—as well as seven points from their last three home games—should prove they have enough to beat a Wigan side who are generally woeful travellers.

Tranmere v Ipswich - Ipswich

In League One, I believe Ipswich are very good value to beat Tranmere away.

The hosts have just a single win in their last nine matches (losing five), and a 4-1 home defeat against Coventry in their last Prenton Park encounter shows just why they’re in the relegation zone.

The reason Ipswich are odds-against is because they’re won just won of their last 10 league games, but a confidence-building 4-1 win against Accrington, followed by a 0-0 draw at a very good Oxford side in their last two games, suggest they’re perhaps turning a corner.

Furthermore, Town’s last five away games have been extremely tough (against Oxford, Wycombe, Lincoln, Portsmouth and Coventry), and considering they won six of their prior seven on the road, I think it’s worth taking a punt on them to win away from home against a poor Tranmere side at this price.

Northampton v Morecambe - League Two

Into League Two now, and I’m confident Northampton beat Morecambe at home.

Keith Curle’s men have been formidable at home of late – winning six and drawing one of their last seven at Sixfields.

Morecambe’s recent home form has seen them push a little clear of the bottom of League Two, but on the road they’ve lost nine of their last 11, scoring just once six.

Plymouth v Mansfield - League Two

Last but not least, at another nice price, I’m expecting Plymouth to beat Mansfield at Home Park.

Ryan Lowe’s side have taken three points in nine of their last 12 league games, and at home they’ve won five of their last six – losing only against top-of-the-table Swindon.

As for the visitors, they’ve had a wretched season, and with three defeats from their last four, I’m not going to hesitate backing Plymouth at evens.

Furthermore, the Pilgrims have won their last five games against the Stags, which may also play on the visitors’ mind.
