Saturday's EFL five-fold comes in at a tasty 15/1!
Derby v Huddersfield - Championship
Derby are suddenly hitting some good form (coinciding nicely with Wayne Rooney’s arrival), and five victories from their last eight has tempted me to back them against Huddersfield.
Phillip Cocu’s side have also won their last four home games—scoring nine and conceding two—while Huddersfield have stumbled to defeats in three of their last four away games.
The Rams are backable at 23/20.
Middlesbrough v Luton - Championship
Luton have lost their last eleven away games in the league, and I’m confident Middlesbrough beat them at The Riverside.
Boro are winless in six matches, but nine games unbeaten at home, with four wins thrown in there, is still a strong enough record to convince me they’ll dispose of the Hatters.
Portsmouth v Shrewsbury - League One
Although their run of nine straight victories was ended by a good Coventry side on Tuesday, Portsmouth are still looking ominously strong.
Kenny Jackett’s men are unbeaten at home, and have won six of their last seven at Fratton Park – dropping points only to an excellent Peterborough outfit.
Shrewsbury are in freefall, and one point from their last four in the league won’t serve them well against Pompey.
Southend v Coventry - League One
Speaking of Coventry, I see them as great value to beat Southend at Roots Hall.
While they’ve been utterly abysmal all season, Southend have put together a run of four games unbeaten at home, but that won’t stop rampant Coventry.
The Sky Blues—unbeaten in nine league matches, winning seven—have won four and drawn one of their last five away games, and I’m no doubt their superior quality will emphatically end Southend’s home resistance.
Swindon v Scunthorpe - League Two
Finally, I like the look of Swindon beating Scunthorpe.
Richie Wellens’ side have won eight and drawn one of their last nine home games, and this run will only continue as the Iron come calling.
Having sacked Paul Hurst, Scunny did register a good win against Cheltenham on Saturday, but followed it up with a 2-0 home defeat to Cambridge, and they simply don’t have nearly enough quality to lay a glove on such a good Swindon outfit.
