Football expert Ryan Elliott has compiled a 4/1 double for Sunday's Bundesliga fixtures.
Mainz 05 v Augsburg - Bundesliga - 14:30
Under 2.5 goals have been scored in the last six collective games that these two sides have been involved in, and I’m feeling very good about another such occasion – especially priced this nicely.
Mainz and Augsburg are both in the thick of a relegation battle, and this is one of those fixtures where, first and foremost, it’s imperative not to lose.
Neither side have looked particularly threatening in front of goal this season, and with the stakes so high on Sunday, caution will be prioritised by both mangers, which is why this is a tip I like a lot.
Schalke 04 v Bayer Leverkusen - Bundesliga - 17:00
Schalke have been utterly abysmal since the Bundesliga has returned, and as a result, I’m backing Bayer Leverkusen to beat them with a -1 handicap.
David Wagner’s men have one point from their last five matches, despite facing strugglers such as Augsburg, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Werder Bremen and Union Berlin. That’s atrocious.
Leverkusen were simply outclassed by Bayern last time out, but they’ve now won three consecutive away games behind-closed-doors—two of them by a margin of at least two goals—and their slickness and attacking capability will cause this rudderless Schalke side all sorts of problems.
Leverkusen to win comfortably is my second tip of the afternoon.
